A New AllStar!
Sandy has arrived!
Today when we got to school we received a little yellow package from the office. Guess who was inside - SANDY!!!!!! Sandy is a little brown otter, sent by our blogging friends Class P6 S/J and their teacher, Mr Johnston, from Sandaig Primary School in Scotland.
Everyone was very excited to finally see Sandy, it seemed we had been waiting for ages. We took photos of Sandy and us, everyone wanted to hold her to say “Hello”.
A big THANK YOU to Mr Johnston and the Sandaig P6S/J kids, we promise to take care of Sandy and show her all around our school and community.
Sandy is extremely cute and cuddly. We didn’t realize that otters had such large whiskers and we LOVE the fluffy white fur around her mouth.
Sokeina and Momtahina have found out some information about Otters:
-
otters have long, slim streamlined bodies of grace and flexibility
-
they have short limbs
-
they have webbed paws
-
they have sharp claws to grasp prey
-
fish are their primary diet
-
some otters eat small mammals and birds
-
otters have special adaptations to live in very cold waters
We look forward to sharing pictures with you and Skippy. Thanks again.
Our Buddies
Our buddies from the Kinder/Year 2 class visited us again today! The Allstars hooked up the new Playstation 2 and Eye-Toy -a big “Thank you” to Derek Robertson from the LTS Consolarium in Dundee, Scotland for inspiring Mrs P and Mrs Dyer because they are now very keen on using console games in the classroom - we think this is 8) !
We paired up with our buddy and we all took it in turns to play fitness games with the Eye-Toy on the iWB. The session was a bit rushed because everyone had to have a turn, but by the end there was lots of huffing and puffing and laughing.
Right at the end we all joined in together and did a group obstacle course – running, jumping, balancing, dodging. Lots of moving and laughing! Here are some thoughts from the AllStars buddies:
Sokeina: I thought today was really fun and my buddy was having the time of his life. We got to play on the eye toy it was really fun. My buddy’s name is Danny and he was really confused when we were playing on the eye toy because he didn’t know what to do. I think that we should teach them about the eye toy a bit. Today was the best day of my life.
Mikhaila: I thought today was amazing! The eye toy was so much fun. But my buddy was really confused and she didn’t know what to do.
Dushan: My buddy didn’t always take turns. He played with me when it was my turn.
Timothy: Today was a terrific day! My buddy and I played with Ramiz and RJ. I wish we had more time to play.
Nancy: My buddy is a Year 2 student, it was fun because she listened carefully and I didn’t have to get frustrated. My buddy was pretty good at playing Eye-Toy. I wish we didn’t have to rush!
Naomi: My buddy was confused with the colours and needed to listen more. I think we should have more time on it while the buddies are with us.
Clement: My buddy didn’t understand the words when we played the game. I will need to know the game and teach my buddy before he plays.
Ramiz: I found it hard to understand what my buddy said to me. But when we got to the Eye-Toy he was pretty good.
Nadine: My buddy had no clue what was happening when we played eye toy. She kept on copying my moves, but when she did, she was good and I was really proud of her. She helped me win and she was pushing really hard on herself. I enjoyed playing eye toy a lot with my buddy.
Sharon: My buddy had a lot of fun. It was boring when we had to wait because my buddy kept on wanting to play other games and then saying they were boring. I had a lot of fun playing the eye toy I think my buddy did too!!!
