It’s All Happening ……
Sparks are flying in the computer room here at school - we are all working so hard on our “Australian Stories” for the Australia Topic wiki we are working on with Carronshore School.
Some people are preparing PowerPoints, others are writing newspaper articles, Celia is working on a video production/interview, and Sharon has started a trend in Toondoo comics!!!!
The deadline for completion is this Friday - so “get cracking” AllStars (you will have to look that slang up on the wiki :) ) don’t let your class or your country down!!!
Testing Newspaper Generator
Another test!
This time its the Newspaper Generator!
What do you think?
Testing Toondoo
Here is our first attempt at using Toondoo!
Hope you like it!
It is really B I G scroll down to see it!
Australian Artist - Clifton Pugh
Clifton Pugh painted Australian landscapes. He concentrated on interesting parts of trees - like curvy branches, textured bark, and the patterns of the leaves.
We spent a beautiful afternoon outside our school, looking for unusual branches to draw.
Here are some pictures of us working outside ……
PWii
We have finally started our “PWii” lessons. We call them PWii (rather than PE - physical education) because we are using the Wii to play tennis.
Each group of students has written up a lesson on a tennis skill, and they teach the rest of the class how to do the skill. We play outside using a wide range of bats and racquets to learn the skills we need to play inside on the Wii.
Each pair plays the Wii in the classroom, and we choose the “best of 3 games” option. When everyone has had a turn we will each play other students and have a “Round Robin” tournament.
We hope to put together either a wiki of our work or at least a page to show you what we’ve been up to
Australian Stories
This term we are studying Australian history - events that shaped Australia.
We have been reading all sorts of amazing stories about famous Australians, infamous Australians, times that were hard, funny times, sad times, interesting points of view and some things that just make us shake our heads and think “WHY?”
We will be writing stories about these events, at the moment we are still researching and sorting through all of the information. Next we will work on the presentation of our stories and then we will post our stories for everyone to read.
Our friends at Carronshore, in Scotland, are studying Australia, and have started a great wiki on the topic. They have asked us to share our work with them on their wiki. So ……. the stakes are high - we will be working “flat out” to have our stories and presentations up and ready for all to see really soon!
(We are even now - we’ve stolen your photo!!!) :)
ANZAC Stories
This past week we have been writing some ANZAC stories on our personal blogs.
We imagined what it would be like to be fighting in the First World War and wrote stories, journal entries or letters back home.
We would love for you to read them and comment on our work.
Thanks.
