BST Writing

Today everyone in our class had to do the BST Writing test. Mrs P said that the only sound she could hear was the sound of brains thinking

Years 4 and 6 wrote a report about birds, and a review of a favourite book, movie or TV show; while Year 5 wrote about why we should keep our environment clean, and finished an imaginative story about a mysterious egg.

  • We had to plan our writing to get our ideas in order,
  • We had to write clearly about the topics,
  • We had to use correct spelling and punctuation,
  • Then we had time at the end to edit our work.

Whew! we are glad that’s over – until Thursday when we have the Language, Reading and Numeracy sections. Wish us good luck, sharp pencils, and good memories         ;)

I was scouting the surroundings of the battlefield when I spotted a cave at the corner of my eye.  I walked cautiously towards the large cave then suddenly I see 2 eyes filled with hatred and revenge, peering at me from the darkness of the cave. The mysterious creature crept out of the cave. I couldn’t believe my eyes I was standing in front of a dragon.

The dragon towered above me standing on its 2 muscular hind legs. The dragon was at least triple my size; its green scales shimmered in the sun. It stretched its enormous wings majestically catching the breeze on its wings. The dragon rocketed off the ground and glided above the tree canopy like a kite in a calm breeze. The dragon then swooped back down to the ground right towards me….BANG… I wake up on the battlefield I don’t know how I got here then I suddenly remember the dragon, could it have all been a dream?

This winter holiday was FREEZING. The icy wind stung every uncovered particle of skin and it was even snowing!! The confused weather man quitted, but no-one really liked him. Kids, even teenagers and adults everywhere were snow-fighting, skiing and doing all sorts of snow activities. I was making snowmen, a whole family of them. I just loved making snowmen, and found it super easy. It was getting darker and darker, but I didn’t notice. Soon, I was the only kid left. Instead of making a simple family, I made a large crowd of snow-People.

Once I got off from snow-man planet, I started making my way home. I knew loads of short-cuts, but the shortest one had a lot of trees in the way. I was trying to think of a good excuse for my lateness when I saw a beautiful, glowing silver light which wiped my mind blank. I blinked. It was gone, I thought I was hallucinating but the next second, it flashed again. I thought it was just a lost flash-light, but the light was so bright and … graceful. I just had to go near it.

The light was glowing on a very low and leafless branch. All that light had come from a small, winged creature. It was about ten centimetres high and looked really fragile. The creature saw me, alerted it drew a tiny and silver stick and raised it like a sword. Then, the icy wind blew and it fell unconscious on the branch. The light was fading away from it. It was dying, dying from the cold and snow. I had to save it. I carefully lifted it up and lay it gently in my hand. It was as cold as ice.

I started racing home as soon as possible. I tried warming it up, putting it near the heater and trying to keep it as warm as possible. My mum was next to me, confused, she asked, “What are you doing?” I stared at her. -“Can’t you see it?”  - “hmm? See what?”    I couldn’t believe it, my mum can’t see it. Was I imagining things? It seemed so real, and I could even feel it. I went towards my room, holding the strange creature in my hand, and covered it up. I went to dinner, trying to pinch a few pieces for that creature in case it was hungry. I went back to my room, but it was gone, the window was slightly opened. I left the food on the table and went to sleep. Thus, I never saw it again.

Today Emma, a rep from the NSW Cricket Association (Speed Blitz Blues teams), visited our school to  advertise cricket and how much fun it is to play.

We got to practise 3 important cricket skills:

  • fielding
  • bowling
  • batting

In our groups of three, we went to each activity and had a couple of turns at each skill.

At the end Emma gave everyone a showbag with goodies inside! There were stickers, Milo munchies, a DVD, a poster, a soft cricket ball and some advertisements.

Ramiz, our future Aussie Cricket star, answered a question correctly) and won a water bottle for himself. GOOOOOOOOOO Ramiz

Watch out Warney!!!!!!! AllStars are after you!
