Mind Map - Natural Disasters

How cool is this?

Last week we tried out a mind mapping tool called mind42.com to organise our thinking about Natural Disasters.

We had just been introduced to Natural Disasters through some wonderful hands on science activities from the CSIRO and we thought that we would like to investigate further.

This is what we came up with - have a look at the map above - you can move themap, make the text bigger/smaller, open and close the nodes. WOW

AllStars - leave a comment about the area you would like to investigate.

    Hi Mrs P,
Well, I’m not exactly sure what I would like to investigate!?! Although, I wouldn’t mind investigating tsunamis and earthquakes. Maybe we could pair up with someone and investigate together. Could we all make a power point about the natural disaster we were investigating, and then show it to the class? Or maybe we could all do a bit of everything. Some pairs could even investigate the past natural disasters, and tell us about them. :-)

Maybe we could find some more experiments to do and then do them. Then we could figure out what happened and why it happened. I hope we will be able to find out why all the past natural disasters have occurred. Hope this helps.

    Hi Allstars!

Right now I’m in Melbourne and so is Sandy! I’ll write my area that I want to investigate later. Bye for now!

Have a great time Nat & Sandy! Take some photos and we can post them on this blog :) MrsP

    Hi Mrs P! :P
I really think that i should work on…. everything really. I like Science, it’s my favourite subject, so i think I’d like to work on everything.
Maybe we could find a site and see how to do experiments that prove how earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes etc, work.
I agree with Naomi about getting into groups.
I think Earth is so interesting! Imagine how it would be without it? We wouldn’t without it!?
So i say we should do some work on that. Also, working on the Earth with make us see how important it is to us. :D

cool mindmap i will be working on earthquakes!
I hope I’ll enjoy it. bye for now

    Hi Allstars

My topic in natural disasters will be cyclones. The main thing I want to investigate is how cyclones are formed, how they go away and how long they go for. Just as everyone else has noted out, it would be very good if we could work in partners but no more than two people.

    Hello!
I think i should work on Volcanoes. Nadine and I have paired up which means i also agree with Naomi about pairing up.Maybe we could pair up in pairs and work in a particular thing about our topic. Then we could show the class and explain it.

I think that if we want to know a bit about their topic, they could use Wikipedia.
    here is the link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Even though i would not be here for the rest of the term, Nadine and i agreed to comment on each others blog if we found anything exciting about our topic.

I hope this will be fun!

    Sharon :)

    Hi Mrs P,
I think for this term i will study Tsunami’s.
I want to study Tsunami’s because i think that they are really interesting.

    Hi Mrs.Pericles

I want to research tornadoes because they are realy cool.

    Bye Latika

    Hi,
I would like to investigate volcano’s. I have always been interested in science and escpecially volcanic eruptions. I have always hoped that there could be one way that I could stop all the trouble that volcanic eruptions are causing. I agree with nadine, naomi & sharon that we should pair up beacuase 2 heads are better than 1!
    Toooooooooooooooooodles!

    Hello!
I had a hard time trying to decide what I want to research. But I think for this term, I would like to do Monitoring Tsunami’s. I want to monitor them because I think that they would be really interesting to study and I feel like it is the best thing for me to do.
I agree with Naomi when she said that we could pair up and do some presentations.

    Momtahina!

    Hello!
I really agree with Naomi because there is a lot of interesting things to investigate but I think I will study tsunamis. One, because I think it’s really interesting, two, because there is alot of things that happened with tsunamis.
    BYE :D

    Hi, guys I’m back.
I’ll like to do rocks and minerals because many rocks and minerals are rare.

    Mrs p
To tell you the truth it was a battle bewteen earthquakes and volcanic eruptions but i finally decided to pick volcanic eruptions somehow
i also like the mine map is so cool.

The mind map is so cool.

I want to learn more about volcanos. I just found out that there was a sighting of an outer space volcano eruption.
