Congratulations everyone – we’ve made it to the end of the term, so now its time for your first holiday project ……..

All that researching and reading and finding out that you have been doing at home and at school over the last week has meant that your head is full of fantastic information about NATURAL DISASTERS. To help you cleanse your head and to give you some relief our project will involve you choosing one creative activity and bringing it into class next term.

You have come up with some great ideas – head over to the PAGES section and read through your ideas. Any questions? Leave a comment and I’ll get back to you :) MrsP

Congratulations to all reps, you played strong and hard today, and you all showed great spirit and commitment. Well done  :)

Great news for Naomi, Michael and Hafiz – who have all been selected for the regional team.

They will have to play a couple of games and have the chance to be selected for the NSW state team. We wish them all the best for these HUGE games next term.

We are extremely proud of all our reps – go you good guys!!!

Here are some questions for you:

Have you ever played soccer?

Do you play for a soccer team?

Do you like soccer?

Naomi

Some lucky AllStars enrolled at Joffa’s Toon School today, and spent the morning learning how to draw cartoons. Looks like they had lots of fun, and were pretty good at it too :)

Blown away by cyclones……

Washed away by tsunamis ……..

Made into statues by lava from volcanoes ……

We’re researching the wonderful! terrible! awesome! topic of natural disasters.

You’ve seen our class mind map that we made earlier this term, now everyone has made their own mind map to help them get organised to research about an area that interests them.

We’ve got lots of great sites on our deli.ici.ous site as well as books from the library to help us locate the information that we need.

We will be adding our info to our new wikispace and it looks as if our Holiday Project will involve creating something to do with our particular natural disaster.

Please stay tuned to find out more.

No – not really :)

We had fun this morning playing a grid game to finish off our work on mapping/grids/scale drawings.

First we had to rule up a grid on the page where 1cm: 1 km(or you could use grid paper!)

Add seven checkpoints and start and finish squares. Label these A-G

Players must travel to each checkpoint in order, driving only on the grid lines.

Now get a die and some highlighters ( a different colour for each player :) )to begin playing.

dsc04620.JPG

1. Roll the die and move that many kilometres towards the first checkpoint. A number 5 = 5cm (5km)

2. Player 2 then rolls the die. Continue until both players reach the finish

3. Players count how many kilometres they travelled from start to finish

dsc04618.JPG      dsc04621.JPG     dsc04617.JPG

Scores: First to finish: 10 points

Player who travelled the shortest distance: 10 points

Have a play and let us know what you think :)
