Hi,
I usually do the same as feras does but instead of just going to the oldest for eid we start there and continue out through the whole family and most people would visit you back. This is usually celebrated after ramadan which is where each day you cant eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. This goes on for a month. When it finishes we celebrate EID! We ussually get money for eid and go to this special festival in rockdale where there are rides and show bags and there are stalls selling drinks and hot food. Also there are stalls which sell arabic and english books and dvds, clothes and shoes. It is lots of fun

Hello Mrs P and Allstars!
In our tradition we celebrate christmas and easter. We usually have barbeques after easter because we fasted for 40 days for lent. During easter season, we fast on meat or something you would like to give up for 40 days. On easter we get alot of chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnys. On christmas we gather all the presents for the kids under my grandma's christmas tree and on christmas we all open the presents that belong to us!

thank you
sarah :)

Hi Allstars

I grew up in Wales & we celebrated St David's Day on March 1st. We used to dress up in national costume to go to school & we had an eisteddfod where we had competitions for poetry, art, story writing, plays etc.

At bedtime, When I was little my Mum & Dad used to say "Up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire" or "Up the apples & pears".

Hi Mrs P & AllStars,
Ashly-At Christmas we usually celebrate Jesus being born. We give each other presents, and go to church at night.
Naomi-At New Years Eve we get together with family and stay up till midnight. Then at midnight, we go crazy and party.

Mark - we will visit your blog when we get back from holidays too!
P5LW - what are "dumps"???? We do give the birthday person punches on the arm = how old they are turning. Is this the same as dumps?

In our class we celebrate lots of different things including birthdays, Easter, Christmas, Ramadan and Eid. Do you celebrate these things?

We all have lots of different traditions for our special days but if it is someone's birthday in our class we always sing happy birthday as loud as we can and then the children usually give the birthday person the dumps. Do you give people the dumps?

Hi Room 202. I am a teacher from Rangiora Borough School in New Zealand. Presently we are on school holiday at moment. Our term.2 focus is What it means to be New Zealander. Our whole approach will be through Inquiry Learning and we will be looking at things like family traditions, community customs, Kiwiana, NZ history, politics, famous people, and other cultures in NZ. I would really like some of your children to visit our class blog which has only been up and running for a couple of weeks, and communicate with some of the children on the main page blog list. Each child has their own blog page. If you search http://www.21classes.com, then type in our address at the top http://m2rbs.21classes.com that will take you to our blog portal. Cheers hope to hear from you.

My family celebrate birthdays and anniversary. We usually go out for a special meal and we buy presents for the special persons.
Sometimes, we go to a special place for the celebration.
