Over the past few weeks we have been working on our own “Big Beliefs Project”. We have been finding out about the different beliefs and religions people in our class and our community have.

We have found out many interesting things about religions, and the different ways that diffent people worship in their religion.

To try and keep track of the information we are finding, we have constructed  tables to put our info in. Each group had to come up with their own table/grid and the topics/ headings that they would be finding out about.

In this slide show you can see us working together to come up with our tables/grids. We are having lots of fun sharing our ideas, listening to each other and encouraging everyone’s ideas and thoughts.

You can see what else we’ve been up to on our DET trial blog right here!

The students from Room 202 have been writing about the special traditions their families have - special days, special routines, special sayings.

Have a read of their posts over on their blog, and then come back here to leave a comment about the special traditions you have in your family.

What special days do you celebrate? What does your family do to celebrate these days?

Does your family have their own traditions/sayings/routines when you go to bed or get up in the morning or when its your birthday or the weekend?

Lets share our family traditions will they be the same or different?

Sitting in the dark…

Squashed up by the windows…

Reading by the light from outside…

 What’s going on?

 NOT THE LIGHT!

 NOT the Computer!

 NOT the IWB!

It’s Earth Hour!

Earth hour is a time where all electricital appliances are turned off to conserve electricity for 1 hour.

Globally, Earth Hour will be held 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm on Saturday night, but we wanted our school to participate so we are having earth hour this morning.

Earth Hour has made us think about:

  • How we can save electricity
  • How we can be in the future
  • How it was in the past
  • How it can help the future
  • Global warming
  • Sleeping!!!

Don’t forget if we use too much electricity we could be back in the DARK AGES!!!!!!!-(boom tish).

The CSIRO came to visit again and we had a great morning learning all sorts of things about Chemistry.

We were able to do many experiments to see how chemicals and substances reacted when mixed. We looked at acids and alkalines, we measured temperature changes, we made slime and mixed, observed and predicted what might happen next.

We think that we will explore Cool Chemistry further, back in class for the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

To help us learn about each other, and how we could learn together, we worked through some games and activities that promoted team work and collaboration.

We wanted to help everyone feel that they belonged to the class, and that together we could learn more, achieve more and have more fun learning.

Here are some photos of us making STARS in groups, by talking, sharing, listening and working together!

Hooray!!!

We are finally ready to start blogging for another year.

Permission notes have been returned, the interactive whiteboard has been fixed, we’ve learnt about cyber safety and all systems are …..

go

go!

Next we will be sorting a new theme for the year, and adding some of the things we’ve already got up to this year. We can’t wait to share our learning with all our friends around the world.

Gee it’s good to be back :)

We also visited Carronshore School - remember Mrs Vass and her class??

Well, Mrs Vass took us to visit with Primary 5LW and they had heaps of questions to ask about Australia.

Mrs Vass made a (very embarrassing) video for P5LW and you can see it on their blog here.

They also have some new pets to show you!

Why not leave some welcoming comments?

Here are some photos I took at Carronshore:

Hello everyone - well, school has started for another year and I know that we will have a great time exploring, discovering and learning together.

I am still over here in the UK - England to be specific.

It’s been a busy month for me - meeting some of our blogging friends and looking at how technology is being used in Nursery Schools (little kids), Primary Schools (like us) and Secondary Schools (high Schools). Lots of different sorts of ways of using technology creatively and excitingly. Can’t wait to get back and try some of these things out.

Have a look at what Mrs Dyer and I have been up to on these presentations made while we were visiting!

This presentation was when we visited Easter Carmuirs Primary - who ’s blog is called “Take A Look Inside” why not pop over and leave a comment on their blog?
