BANG!!!!!!

The school sports carnival had started.

Hearts thumping, muscles straining, legs pumping.

Eyes straining for the finish line.

There it is, almost there…..

Finished.

Who else loves the carnival?

Running, jumping, stretching, gliding, playing, cheering, chanting.

Lots to do.

A great day.

Our school Cross Country Carnival was held last week and everyone had a fun morning testing themselves to improve their running times. We had been training for only a short time, and there was a motivated and committed group who aimed high, worked hard and acheived well.

Congratulations to every AllStar who tried their best, participated in the race and who enjoyed the experience. I am proud of you all!

The next round of running will occur later this week when school representatives will travel to the Zone Cross Country event. Good luck to all our runners.

He explained that his mother took him to gymnastics because he was a very active child. Prasanth continued enjoying gymnastics, and with lots and lots of training and commitment, he has made it to the top in his sport. Prasanth is currently ranked number one in the world!

Prasanth is dividing his time between gymnastics training and studies at university. He says it takes as much effort and dedication to achieve in his studies as it does in sport.

Prasanth encourages everyone to choose a sport that they enjoy, aim high and work hard at it to become the best you can be- and have heaps of fun along the way.

After working hard for the last 14 weeks, we are coming to the end of the Premier’s Sporting Challenge and we needed some different activities to keep us going during PE sessions.

Over the last couple of sessions we have tried out our badminton skills and skipping skills.

Badminton is trickier than we thought it would be – the shuttlecock is very light and is caught by the wind to make things difficult J

We are trying to skip “double dutch” using two ropes. Some of us can do this but others are taking a little longer to get the hang of this skipping business!

Set off in the buses, all with a hunch

That today would be awesome, tiring but fun

Cos the weather was perfect – just right for a run!

We arrived with a bump and a clunk and a cheer.

Glad to get off the bus and announce “We are here”.

Off to our House teams, red, yellow and blue

Not to miss green who were there cheering too!

We lined up all a ready to hear the gun start

Ready, set, bang! What a fright for our heart!

The races were long and hard and far

But all came through them with hardly a scar!

Some jumped and some ran and some yelled and some screamed

All had a great time, but then ran out of steam.

Back off to school and the day was near done

That’s it for this year and the “Carnival of Fun”.

All schools are encouraged to participate in daily activities and exercise. Everyone’s individual minutes of sporting activity are added together and then averaged to give a class total.

Bronze Level = 30 minutes a day

Silver Level = 45 minutes a day

Gold Level = 60 minutes a day

With extraordinary perseverance and application, the AllStars are aiming at the most prestigious level – Diamond Level, which is an average of 80 minutes a day.

To hone our skills and improve our fitness we have embarked on a rigorous but interesting regime of games and sports to keep our interest and enthusiasm high.

This has included relays, endurance running, sports (T-ball, basketball, soccer and cricket), games (dodge ball, Gaol and French cricket), skipping, hula-hooping, hitting, batting, dancing, netball, touch footy, goal shooting, serving, and kickball!

Whew!!!!!

Other sporty AllStars also increase their activity levels at home after school – some activities include:

soccer, walking, karate, walking the dog, judo, bike riding, tennis, swimming, jogging, rugby, hiking and walking to and from school.

We are coming to the end of the PSC and think that we will need a rest at the end!

Michael, Hafiz, Penelope, Souad and I surprised selectors, at the district soccer trials yesterday. With great excitement we went and showed them what we’ve got       

We’ll set off on Friday next week, along with Souad and Penelope, from two other classes. We have been wished lots of luck and hope for lots of luck too  : P

Congratulations to all reps, you played strong and hard today, and you all showed great spirit and commitment. Well done 

Great news for Naomi, Michael and Hafiz – who have all been selected for the regional team.

They will have to play a couple of games and have the chance to be selected for the NSW state team. We wish them all the best for these HUGE games next term.

We are extremely proud of all our reps – go you good guys!!!

We’ve started training for our cross country carnival that will be held in May.

We huff and puff through two laps of the oval, and we time ourselves so that we can get faster and faster!

Sandy is showing the most improvement so far – she has wiped two minutes off her times already!

Who knew that an otter could run that far, and that fast?????     :0 

 Well done everone else – keep trying and improving your times     ;)

They spent a beautiful day yesterday running, jumping, throwing, hurling and having fun out of school.

They all performed to the max and should be proud that they had the opportunity to be part of this carnival.

I competed in the shot put and discus and running. I had to run 200 metres but I didn’t place.   Josh

In the 200 metre running heat I came first and the finals are next week. I also won the Junior Girls long jump with a jump of 3.15 metres. I will go to the regional carnival for long jump        Naomi

I competed in the Senior Girls long jump – I didn’t ask how far I jumped, but I didn’t make it to the next level.        Nancy

I did the discus at the carnival – the disc is a particular weight and you have to throw it the furthest distance. I didn’t manage to throw it very far.    Gloria

 I jumped in the high jump – I jumped one metre high, but the others jumped even higher.   Kesaia
