We had a visitor from the USA visit our school recently – his name was NED.
NED:
N= Never give up
E= Encourage others
D= Do your best
NED taught us about being a good person, getting along with others and respecting yourself and everyone else too.
To help make the visit even better, NED told his story using a yo-yo and performing really good tricks.
Now lots of people have yo-yos and are learning to do tricks too!
Over the past few weeks we have been working on our own “Big Beliefs Project”. We have been finding out about the different beliefs and religions people in our class and our community have.
We have found out many interesting things about religions, and the different ways that diffent people worship in their religion.
To try and keep track of the information we are finding, we have constructed tables to put our info in. Each group had to come up with their own table/grid and the topics/ headings that they would be finding out about.
In this slide show you can see us working together to come up with our tables/grids. We are having lots of fun sharing our ideas, listening to each other and encouraging everyone’s ideas and thoughts.
Despite the heavens opening and almost washing us all away, we had a visit from Natalie from the Waste Watchers team. Natalie was an expert “Water Watcher” and we spent the afternoon …….
Revising what we knew about the water cycle:
Talking about how to save water at home:
And sharing suggestions for conserving water:
There was time to talk, to listen, to think, to answer questions, to ask questions, and to come up with great ways or reducing, re-using, and recycling water.
Earth hour is a time where all electricital appliances are turned off to conserve electricity for 1 hour.
Globally, Earth Hour will be held 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm on Saturday night, but we wanted our school to participate so we are having earth hour this morning.
Earth Hour has made us think about:
How we can save electricity
How we can be in the future
How it was in the past
How it can help the future
Global warming
Sleeping!!!
Don’t forget if we use too much electricity we could be back in the DARK AGES!!!!!!!-(boom tish).
We have been looking at how poverty affects education, and how education can help the fight against poverty.
We’ve looked at how school is important to us, why education should be available to all students, and the various places around our school that are important to us.

Some students have been investigating fractions in Maths recently. They have been using a website to direct their investigations and have been using coloured blocks to represent different fractions.
The students seem to enjoy using the blocks and have had to think hard to find the correct answers. Working with a friend is very popular because we know that “two heads are better than one!”
If you have a look at the photos you will see that the kids look like they are enjoying their Maths!
We have been reading some interesting books in “Reading Circles” this term. Mrs P brought in a selection of books and we put our names on the books we would like to read first.
Here are the books we could choose from:
Each group meets every one or two weeks and decides how many pages or chapters they will read before the next Reading Circle Meeting.
While the group is reading their book, they keep an eye out for interesting or tricky or difficult or unknown words. These words are written down and their meanings are found.
When we have finished reading the chapters we write a brief summary, and make up 2 or 3 open-ended questions to discuss at the Reading Circle Meeting.
Here are some interesting questions we discussed today:
