Footy Card Fever!

Standard

Footy cards are very popular with lots of students at the moment. They are found in packets of chips and have pictures of Rugby League players and teams on them.

People like to play a game with the cards so here is some information about them:

Instructions

Footy cards are very popular at our school and the main idea is to win as many footy cards as possible to build up your collection.

  1. To play footy cards you first have to do “Paper, Rock, Scissors” and the winner of this must slam the cards.
  2. A player card is worth one point, the team trio card is worth two points, and the gold team trio cards (that are holographic) are worth six or twelve points depending on how rare they are.
  3. To get cards you must win them or get them from chip packets.
  4. How to slam footy cards: Firstly you slam it down on the floor – if you hit it on heads and it lands on tales you win; but if it lands on heads it will be the next player’s turn.
  5. If you win a round then you keep the cards.

We like to play footy cards and we also like to collect as many cards as we can and to be the best player in the school.

Cross Country Training

Standard

Our class 3Baz have been training for the cross country which is today. Stage 2 and 3 are participating in the run which will be happening this afternoon. We have all been enthusiastic about competing for our houses because we all want to win.

All of the students in our class have been slowly building up the amount of laps that we do, eventually reaching six laps. But those who find it difficult to do, tried walking for twenty steps and jogging for twenty steps so that they could finish the course. Here are some of the things that we have been doing.  ENJOY 🙂

World Maths Day

Standard

We took part in World Maths Day last week and competed against students from all around the world. We had to recall basic maths operations as quickly as we could to get the most answers correct in the least amount of time – some found it tricky, but it got easier the more you did it!

We also had fun working on some “string art” drawings in our books. We had to follow the instructions carefully and take care with our ruling of the straight lines. The patterns and designs we made were pretty and we think they are clever too!

Ready … Set … Go!

Standard

We have been back at school for a while now and have been very busy getting to know each other, sorting out our class room, investigating our learning styles, taking some diagnostic tests (to work out our goals for literacy and numeracy) as well as playing sport, visiting the Library and settling into our “out of the classroom” roles of Peer Mediators and School Leaders!

Whenever we have been able (having some technical setbacks and difficulties) we have been reading blogs from around the world and we are learning to add comments to interesting posts on those blogs. It has been exciting to read the responses to our comments, and we can’t wait to get some comments on this blog too.

Hope all of the “old” AllStars are enjoying High School – please leave a comment to let us know how you are getting on.

And a huge and happy WELCOME to all of the new AllStars – your journey is about to begin . . . .

We can’t wait to get started with our class blogging – please leave a comment    🙂

Recorder Sketchings

Standard

We have had a couple of “Jellybeans” music lessons so far this term and are really excited to be learning to play the recorder.

Recently we used charcoal pencils to sketch some aspects of our recorders. We tried to experiment by pressing softly and more firmly, using the side of the pencil and the tip of the pencil as well.

Here are our finished sketches …..
