Our Very First Make It Challenge

Standard

We celebrated Book Week with a Make It Challenge in the Library.

Students were asked to “Connect to Reading” by creating a model of some sort of a book they were reading.

We had lots of very creative entries – people used lego, boxes, wood, minecraft, glitter jewels, drawings and pipe cleaners to construct a model. Lots of interesting connections to stories and reading 🙂

Have a look at the entries below:

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Back from the holidays and everyone is super excited to share what they have done over the past two weeks. We wrote a word to describe how we felt and drew an image of what we did. There were so many things we put them in a newspaper!

We Love Our Mums

Standard

This Sunday Australians celebrate Mother’s Day so this afternoon in Golden Time some of us decided to make our Mum a special card. There were lots of great ideas and every card we made was totally unique – just like our individual Mums 🙂

What a great afternoon!

Creative kids + creative ideas = special cards.

Give you Mum a hug this Sunday.

To celebrate the wonderful variety of cultures represented at our school – we will be having a celebration on Thursday. It’s called “Multicultural Day” and will be a lot of fun.

Everyone will dress in their national costume, or in colours represented on their national flag; and we will bring plates of food from our cultures to share with the school.

Some students are preparing dances and songs from their culture and everyone will parade around the school – showing off their costumes and waving flags.

The AllStars are making flags for the parade – we are all making an Australian flag and most of us are making another flag to show the many cultures that we are from.

I wonder how many cultures will be represented on Thurday??

Here is a fun flag game. Play it and see how many flags and countries you know! TakingITGlobal Flag Game.

Family Traditions and Beliefs

Standard

The students from Room 202 have been writing about the special traditions their families have – special days, special routines, special sayings.

Have a read of their posts over on their blog, and then come back here to leave a comment about the special traditions you have in your family.

What special days do you celebrate? What does your family do to celebrate these days?

Does your family have their own traditions/sayings/routines when you go to bed or get up in the morning or when its your birthday or the weekend?

Lets share our family traditions will they be the same or different?
