Our Macbeth Play – Thanks (and apologies) to Shakespeare!

Standard

As part of our “History Never Repeats?” question we have been reading some of Shakespeare’s plays, because Shakespeare was an important part of history as well as writing a number of historical plays.

We have chosen to perform “Macbeth” for our class item in Assembly this week. After being inspired by Kindergarten’s performance of the story “A Dark, Dark Tale” we decided to re-write Macbeth in the same way.

To help us sort out the parts of the story we would perform, we all used Mind Maps to organise and identify the important parts of the story. You can see a composite of what we came up with on this Bubbleshare presentation ……..

We had to add the “Dark, dark” tale bits to join the story together.

Now we have to work out who will be each character and practise on the stage.

We hope to video our performance and put it, and some still photos, on our blog after Friday, so stay tuned ……

I don’t really know how Shakespeare would feel (then again, who does?)
He might be outraged because we are rewriting his “art” and changing HIS story but he might also be delighted because it was his story that inspired us and his stories are always changing.

  4. I think Shakespeare would feel delighted that we are rewriting one of his famous stories Macbeth because he would know that he has inspired us in doing a play about his something he done his life. If only he could watch us perform. 🙂

  5. Hi Mrs Pericles!
I think that William Shakespeare would be happy that we are using his plays and changing them because people are using HIS plays and so he would be proud that we are changing them. He would think that we like his plays (which we do) and he would be feeling proud and happy(of course!)
Shakespear would definetely NOT mind at all, after all, he is famous and his plays have to be acted sooner or later! If he wrote his plays then why would he NOT want to let people change and act them out?
To sum everything i’ve written up, Shakespear would be happy and say all kind of happy things!
    Stay in Touch!
    Bye! 🙂 😆

    Hi,
I think that it is both he would be happy and sad. 😕

I think that he would be happy 🙂 because…..
    * We are still remembering him after a long time.
    * He is still quite famous.
    * His plays are still being performed.
I think that he would be happy to know that he is well known and still quite famous. He would also be happy cause his plays are still being performed.

I think that he would be sad 😥 because…..
    * We are changing his play.
    * We are using his plays without asking him
I think he would be sad to know that we are changing his plays
and we are performing them without asking.
    Naomi 😛

  7. Hi,
I really enjoyed doing the research and the mind mapping for the MissionMaker game which is also connected to our play. Its cool how in the end they all end up to be connected. I think that Shakespeare would thank us for changing his play because he’s so happy that after years people are still reading and enjoying the things that he wrote. I also think he would thank us because we’re changing it and get lots more people to be even more interesred and amazed in his writing.
    Toooooooooooooooooooodles  🙂 😀 😉

  8. I think Shakespeare would be very proud even though we changed it. He would like it because we’re using his story and we also had read it!
I got a question for you do you think our play will be good and every one will clap?
I think it will do you think? Even though it isn’t perfect when we practised and we have 2 days left. Cross your fingers on this Fiday!
    😆

  9. Hi,
I think that Shakespeare would be happy that someone has used his play and turned it upside down in their own way.It still is his play we just changed it.

  10. Hi,
I think he will be happy ,well because he knows we are learning about Shakespeare and knows we are only changing little a bit because of our item.We thought Shakespeare will be a different thing for our item.

  11. Hi Mrs P 🙂

I think both ways, what I mean is that I believe that he would be glad and mad. Do you want to know why, it is because he would be glad because kids are reading his plays after around 500 years. He would also be mad at us for changing his play!
    Anyway, see you later!
    Natalie

  12. Hello everybody!
I think that Shakespeare would be happy that people are still acting out his plays, hundreds of years after his death.
Nevertheless, he might be a bit sad because some people are changing his plays and adding things to his original pieces.
All in all I think that Shakespeare would be rolling around in his grave, due to the fact of knowing that some people are alternating his plays, in which he put alot of time and effort into creating.

    Ramiz 😎

    P.S. He should’ve of copyrighted it! 😀 😛

  13. We have been working on our play today Mrs P asked a class to watch our play, they thought the best part was when McDuff killed & chopped off Macbeth’s head. 😆 😀 😛 😉 😎 🙄 😳 :mrred: :mrblue: 🙂 🙁 🙂 🙁

  14. Hi. That was really cool and i think Shakespeare would agree. How did you make it?

Thanks Callum, we hope Shakespeare would agree too 🙂
We made the slide presentation using photos we took of our mind maps, plus some photos we took from some books. Then we went to Bubbleshare and uploaded the photos there. You put the photos together into a show, copy a code and put the show into your blog!

  16. Hi Allstars
Your performance on Friday was fantastic. I think Shakespeare would be proud of you all. He I am sure would be thrilled to know his plays are still relevant in 2007 and being enjoyed by young and old alike.
    Ms Leonard
