Today we have been investigating dragons – it seems that many places and people right around the world share stories, myths and legends about dragons.

Do you know any stories about dragons? What are dragons like in the stories that you know?

Do you believe that they are/were real?

Do you think that dragons are related to these two “real” Australian dragons –

Lake Eyre Dragon

Sea Dragon

  1. Hi,
Well to answer the first question……
    * Mulan, the dragon acompanies her on a quest and is good not evil.
    * The Never Ending story, the dragonn helps the girl find her friend.
    * Shrek, this dragon is in charge of protecting Fiona and at the end she marries Donkey.
All of these stories have good dragons. Not all stories have good dragons, do they?

I believe they are not real and here is some info why……
    * Even though some things are unexplained there is no reason why dragons have done it.
    * Dragons are usally something a child would imagine when they are younger.
    * How do you explain dragons are real?
Although this might sound as if dragons do not exsist if you believe you never know what will happen….

I believe that dragons would all be related because…….
    * Some believe that they are all related like dinos.
    * They look the same.
    * They have the same features.
This makes me believe that dragons are all related.

    Hello!

Below are some of the stories/movies that I know that have dragons:

    :Shrek
    :Mulan
    :The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

I think dragons are real and not real. By that I mean that there are animals that are called ______ dragon but most of them aren’t really “dragons”.

The answer to third question. Well, I am not really sure, but most probably yes because as Naomi said, they have the same features so I am saying that most “dragons” look the same.

    Anyway, see ya

    Natalie

P.S. We all had a great time at camp!

  4. Hi,
Some of the stories\movies I know that has dragons.
    Shrek-
The dragon is protecting Fiona and ends up married to Donkey.
    Mulan-
The dragon (MUSHU)is one of her gaurdians and keeps Mulan company when she is out trying to protect her country.
    Harry Potter 1-
Hagrid’s dragon Norbert is sent to Romania in number 1 and in Number 7 they find out that Norbert is a girl so he renames her Norbertia.
    Harry Potter 4-
Harry has to get the Hungarian Horntail’s golden egg without being killed to finish a part of the Triwizard Tournament.

I agree with Natalie that there were such things as dragons but they were not actually called dragons.

I also agree with Naomi that they are related to on another.
All of the things that she pointed out is the same that I believe.
I realised that quite a couple of them have symbols on their foreheads.

I have found a really good website and if you want to check it out go to http://www.drakonika.com

    Momtahina 🙂

  6. Hi!
*Well, I also agree with momtahina about all the movies with dragons in them!

*I do think dragons are real because I once saw it on a science TV show. They showed us that they found a dead dragon in a cave and explained some reasons why dragons are real ( well once real!). But anyway, why would people talk about dragons so much and show it on TV so much, if dragons didn’t exist? You can’t just make up any animal all you want to!!!

    * Here is a website that tells you that dragons existed (or once did). There are many things to look at in this site.
    * Another thing, I also agree with Naomi that dragons are realated. But not all look the same though, some have different colours and heights etc. But if you mean in general, then you have a point there! 😆

    * I also agree with Natalie that dragons are real and unreal. Some animals are also maybe called dragons, but i’ve never heard of any though!!!
    ByeBye!!! 😉 🙄

  7. Hi All Stars

I think your dragons look fab.

We have lots of dragon stories in the UK. The most famous one is about Saint George and the dragon. Dragons sometimes feature in some very old British stories – The Arthurian Legends.

Thank you for your thoughful comments on our blog!

I beleive there is a red dragon on the Welsh flag (Y Ddraig Goch)
    I don’t think it will help but,yeah 🙂
this just goes to show that you can find dragons anywhere, in this case the Welsh flag
why dont you do some research on it and unveil the story behind it.

ps: “(Y Ddraig Goch)” is not a typo
