Voices of the World – November Task

Standard

We were very late for November’s Task (so it’s not on the VOTW site) but you can check everyone else’s out here at the VOTW wiki.

But here it is anyway, we had heaps of fun making our stars on “2Paint A Picture” and choosing a background theme for our song.

Our first task was to make a Voki and record ourselves saying a message. This is what we came up with:

Writers Stories – Alison Lester

Standard

A little while ago we were part of the Sydney Writer’s Festival and took part in a writer’s workshop and masterclass with Alison Lester. Alison wrote the book “Are We There Yet?” which we read when we were looking at Australian history.

Please click on this link (the photo of the book) which will take you to the site so you can watch the Masterclass (and see some AllStars in the audience 🙂  )

Our Macbeth Play – Thanks (and apologies) to Shakespeare!

Standard

 dsc03726.JPG

As part of our “History Never Repeats?” question we have been reading some of Shakespeare’s plays, because Shakespeare was an important part of history as well as writing a number of historical plays.

We have chosen to perform “Macbeth” for our class item in Assembly this week. After being inspired by Kindergarten’s performance of the story “A Dark, Dark Tale” we decided to re-write Macbeth in the same way.

To help us sort out the parts of the story we would perform, we all used Mind Maps to organise and identify the important parts of the story. You can see a composite of what we came up with on this Bubbleshare presentation ……..

[bubbleshare 232192.d42832b4179]

We had to add the “Dark, dark” tale bits to join the story together.

Now we have to work out who will be each character and practise on the stage.

We hope to video our performance and put it, and some still photos, on our blog after Friday, so stay tuned ……

What do you think Shakespeare would say about us changing his play?

Random Meme Fever!

Standard

A random meme has been “floating” around the blogosphere of late and many AllStars have been tagged by friends from other schools and countries. We have discussed the positives and negatives of these memes and have tried to remember to keep safe (no personal details). School based tagging should try to keep on school topics too.

Today we thought we would answer as a class, so we thought of 8 topics we would answer. Then we turned the reults into percentages (maths lesson!!!!!! 😆   ) and here is what we came up with:

  1. 43% of AllStars liked MeatLovers pizza.
  2. 57% of AllStars don’t like Maths.
  3. 29% of AllStars chose science as their favourite subject.
  4. 43% of AllStars have finished the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
  5. 43% of AllStars liked Athletics for sport.
  6. 100% of AllStars love blogging!
  7. 100% of AllStars like playing games (PS2, DSLites, Computer etc)
  8. 90% of AllStars like making digital games.

We won’t tag classes – but if you want to join in please do so and leave a comment so we can read your class’ favourites   😀

It’s All Happening ……

Standard

Sparks are flying in the computer room here at school – we are all working so hard on our “Australian Stories” for the Australia Topic wiki we are working on with Carronshore School.

Some people are preparing PowerPoints, others are writing newspaper articles,  Celia is working on a video production/interview, and Sharon has started a trend in Toondoo comics!!!!

The deadline for completion is this Friday – so “get cracking” AllStars (you will have to look that slang up on the wiki 🙂  ) don’t let your class or your country down!!!
