Well the AllStars have! And they would love to share with you some of their favourites ……..

HARRY POTTER SERIES

By Marwan

The books I love the most are the Harry Potter books, the author is JK Rowling.

Harry Potter is about a boy who lives with his cousin, his aunt and his uncle. He then finds out that he is a famous wizard who has to stop the Dark Lord.

The age that would like these books would be about eleven years and over. The reasons I liked the books are because they have action, comdey and thrills.

I’d give them 3 out of 3 stars and say “They will be the best books you’ve ever read!”

TREASURE FEVER

By Ebaa

The best book I have read this term is called “Treasure Fever” by Andy Griffiths. I think people from Year 3 to Year 8 would like this book.

In this story there are 5 friends, and when one of them gets into trouble, he finds out that when the Principal was little he attended the same school and he used to play pirates and has hidden a treasure in the school.

This boy Henry tells his friends and so they start treasure hunting. They find a key and when the whole school finds out they all go treasure mad!

I enjoyed this book because it’s funny and interesting. I would give this book 3 stars.

SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT DARK DAYS

By Thien

Skulduggery is trapped in a portal and Valkyrie Cain is trying to get him back, as well as his original skull. An evil gang has got their eye on the most deadly weapon ever created, how will Valkyrie and Skulduggery stop them?

Reasons you should read this book:

1. It has a big twist – and that changes everything!

2. It gives you action and great VCOP.

3. Tension to the readr.

Good for age 12 and over. Rating 3 stars.

Author is Derek Landy.

SISTER OF THE SOUTH

By Irina

This book by Emily Rodda would probably be for ages 9 – 13 because it might have some words that are hard to understand.

The book “Sister of the South” is the final book in the Deltora Quest 3 series. Three companions are on a quest to destroy the four evil sisters who poison the whole of Deltora with their song. The companions (Leif, Barda and Jasmine) have defeated three of the sisters and freed six of the seven ancient dragons from their slumber. Will they defeat the final sister? And if they do, will their miseries be over?

I enjoyed the book because

1. there was a twist at every turn

2. I couldn’t allow myself to put it down until I knew what happened nxt

3. it was chock full of fantastic fantasy to get the imagination happeneing.

I give it 3 stars! A great read 🙂

Peacefully the seeds wait for life

Comfortable, covered in soil

Warmly awaken

As the water hits  they launch out of the soil.

Seed …. the seed waits calmly for life.

Blanketted in the moist soil, the seed awaits growth.

Feeling energy to live, the seed tingles with warmth and awakens.

The shoot blasts through the soil as if out of a cannon.

Seeds …. waiting to be planted

Seeds …. using the soil as a warm bed

Seeds … mysteriously awaken from deep sleep

Seeds …. exploding through the soil and sprouting leaves.

Tundra Travel Team

Standard

Our task for homework this week was to create a travel poster advertising an ecosystem that we had investigated at school. Here is Deon’s wonderful effort:

TUNDRA TRAVEL TEAM

Is it a hot summer day today? Are you sick of the endless summer sun’s scorching heat?

Then what are you doing sitting here – get up and go to the tundra!

Have the holiday of a lifetime and ask the “Tundra Travel Team” to give you a chilled, relaxing and memorable journey to the tundra.

If you love the sight of the sun, come in the summer and experience 24 hour sunlight.

If you want to bring out the dark-side in you – come in winter and experience 24 hour … DARKNESS!!!

Walk in the soggy frozen permafrost while viewing spectacular and breathtaking species of animals and plants like the miniature willow tree, the musk oxen, the arctic fox, the caribou and many more.

So it’s your choice: you really can come on a memorable trip to the tundra!

Or …..

You can sit here reading this pamphlet.

An interview with TOM & JERRY!

Standard

tomandjerry

Marwan wrote this interview with the cartoon characters “Tom & Jerry” for homework.

We think you will enjoy it  🙂

Marwan: Good morning Tom & Jerry!

Tom: Hello

Jerry: What’s sup?

Marwan: So Jerry, why do you like to be chased by Tom? Don’t you hate it?

Jerry: I love it dude – it’s totally exciting and Tom gets seriously into trouble man!

Tom: Yeah right – I never get into trouble (laughing).

Marwan: Tom, when you catch Jerry why don’t you eat him straight away?

Tom: What kind of question is that? Like – I always eat Jeryy except on Sunday when I slepp in!

Marwan: So I’ll take that as a yes.

Tom: Well doh!

Marwan: Have you ever worked together?

Tom & Jerry: Yes! Where we had to beat up the captain.

Marwan: Anything else to say?

Tom: When are we finished?

Marwan: Why?

Jerry: He needs to go to the toilet agian. Dude it’s so totally annoying.

Marwan: Well thanks again it was really nice talking to you fellows. The last thing I want to say is that your cartoons are totally awesome. Everyone out there – go and get the cartoon Tom & Jerry!

Thank you!

Land of the Giants

Standard

Why are all of the AllStars drawing on huge sheets of paper?

We are exploring plants on a GIGANTIC scale!

We are currently listening to the stories “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” by Jules Verne and “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Both books have huge plants in them so we thought that we could invent some huge plants of our own to decorate the classroom walls.

Here is what we got up to:

Punctuation Pandemonium!

Standard

This term we have been working on our writing using VCOP (vocabulary, connectives, openers, punctuation). After a few setbacks, this week the personal whiteboards finally arrived and we were able to use them to play some fun punctuation games.

We all loved writing our answers on our whiteboards and sharing them with the other students. No-one really wanted to stop for Assembly, and Fonzy was jealous that she missed out on using them  🙁   (Poor Fonzy – you will get a turn soon!)

Who knew that learning punctuation could be this much fun?

We’re Up For A Challenge

Standard

DSC07984

Every morning we have Silent Reading for 15 minutes – this gives a chance to read every day. This is a big help because we are all involved in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

The PRC is a yearly challenge to read 20 books – 15 must be from a challenge list, and 5 can be your own choice. We have lots of the PRC books in our classroom book corner and we have put them all out on a table so they are easy to find.

We can also borrow books from the school Library and read them in Silent Reading time as well.

With so many books around , the only question is …….. how can we stop reading at just 20????
